Instigate Arts CIC, a working class artist-led independent organisation. Instigate Arts aims to create positive, progressive social change through art making and engaging. We develop projects that combine the arts with academia and activism and focus on cross-practice/sector/community collaboration. We continuously seek new collaborations and creative ways of exploring political, progressive and socially relevant issues. We have a particular interest in marginalised, feminist and queer culture, and in social history, and we often work with archives and experimental creativity to find new and innovative ways of connecting issues of the past to contemporary situations and states. We utilise the arts to promote positive social conversation, debate and change. We are solutions based and adaptable while recognising the role that artistic thinking and ideas, and connecting through creativity has in social justice. We work with marginalised artists and organisations seeking innovative artistic solutions. We deliver high-quality creative projects with diverse communities across Greater Manchester and the North. Our mission is to foster artistic expression and social justice by providing alternative platforms for artists, free of traditional gatekeepers and funding constraints, and to break down barriers to creativity for diverse communities. We believe in the power of creativity to open minds and drive societal change.
